first i thought i was sure but now im not i was no thinking of either the canon powershot g6 or the s2 Is. because a shop assistant was like wel why dont you buy the s2 Is it has 12x zoom and he said it does almost the same as the g6 first i was sure of my choice about the g6 but now i'm confused the g6 does hav 7.1 mp and the s3Is 5. please help

The S2 IS by Canon. You will find it more flexable when shooting. It has a little faster recycle time too.
... not to the shop assistant's. Feel the camera with your hands - which one do you like ? Which one makes your heart beat faster ? A higher pixel rating means nothing much unless you also compare the size of the CCD.
Don't you just hate it when you have your mind made up and someone throws another camera into the mix.
First - You will be pleased with either camera.
I have a 10X zoom camera and some others.
I find that after the new wore off the big zoom, I seldom use it except to take normal zoom photos.
If you don't really have a need for a big zoom, forget it and go for the G6. The 4X zoom of the G6 is enough for normal shooting.
As you already know, the G6 has one of the best lenses that Canon has produced for a non DSLR camera.
That f2.0 aperture lens is certainly inviting for low light situations.
