There is no best, and you will find supporters and detractors for all of them.

You don't say what you are using at the moment nor whether you are happy with that, but I find that those who have few issues either with their anti-virus utility or with problems with their systems, tend to be satisfied with remaining with what they have.

Personally

Personally, I'd pick one of the free ones. The extra protection afforded by the paid products doesn't really justify the price. Which free one you decide to use is up to you.

You can visit the security, virus and malware forum here and checkout the sticky post. There will be some freebie pgms. to try out and go from there. You can also look into the commercial pgms. as well or continue to use what you maybe familiar with. If you go that route you may find a deal somewhere so look for them either online or local.
