you the options to allow or disallow the program to connect to the internet. Most programs store the info and won't prompt you the next time. Some anti-virus programs are tighter then others in this area. The goal is to stop worms and viruses from talking to the internet so the program you initiate you just need to tell your software to allow it to talk to the internet.
I am not a techie. I have set up a home network with two Macs and a pc laptop. I don't worry about the Macs, but I needed anti-virus/firewall for the pc. A friend gave me a cd containing several different free anti-virus and firewall programs.
I installed PCTools Firewall & Anti-virus on the pc, but became confused when pop-up message asked me to accept or block programs that were trying to access the Internet. I do not know what these programs are or whether or not I need them. I do not know which ones to allow and which ones to block!
From the list below, could you please help me decide on a good anti-virus and firewall that would not demand too much of the user:
Malware Bytes, AVG, Avira, Avast Bit Defender, PC Tools Firewall & Antivirus, Threat Fire Antivirus, Online Armor, Zone Alarm Firewall
Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thank you for any assistance you can give me.
