Question

Where to start for learning DBMS?

Dec 11, 2013 10:41AM PST

I am interested to learn DBMS. How can I start with it? I don't have any basic knowledge about it. Suggest any good books and software tools to get a good knowledge about it?

I'd start with the internet or web.

In the past you would find it hard to get information but today what's stopping you from using a web search on the topic, finding a database and trying it out?

A common free DBMS is MySQL. Download, install and go for it. You'll find many books about it with amazon.

Somewhat more general: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_19?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=relational+database&sprefix=relational+database%2Caps%2C272&rh=n%3A283155%2Ck%3Arelational+database
Pick what you like.

Any local university level bookshop will have books also. Maybe even the IT-books used by the students of the local university. But that depends, of course, on where you live.

Sorry, but the link gives an error message. Do you have a better one?
