Question

Where to get this phone deal...?

Apr 5, 2016 7:58PM PDT

I'm looking to get into the cheapest what I'll call 'wake-up phone' I can get. Until I let the payment lapse a few months back I kept a cheap boost phone just for a bedside wake up phone in case my regular phone was on silent. Only a couple people had the number and it never got used except for rare emergencies when I needed to be woke up. So because there was never any talk time on it keeping it on was cheap as I only paid $5 every 90 days. Now that my service is permanently off I'm trying to get into another similarly cheap pre-pay phone like that one. I'd like to get back into the same deal, but when I go online or in their store boost tells me they only have like $35/mo deals now and apparently I was 'grandfathered' into the deal I was getting.
Anybody know how I can get back into boost or any other similar pre-paid phone deal for as cheap as I used to have?
Or if there's a better place to ask this question please direct.
Thanks

You just won't have phone service, but the rest of it will work.

Not sure what you mean. I'm looking for a second phone to use as a wake up phone in case some of my family needs to contact me in the case of an emergency.

I see...I wasn't clear in my first post. What I'm looking for is an active phone I can keep by my bed and use as a point of contact in case my family needs to get in touch with me while I'm sleeping and my other phone is on silent.

Here in the USA the go to phone like that is Tracfone. You can order direct or pick up one in Walmart and some other stores. I use one for about $105 per year. Any long conversations I do at home using my Magic Jack Plus on VOIP.

My cheaps are the BLU under 20 dollar BLU TANK II with service by Ting.com. Since it's mostly in the car the cost for the first year was in total:

BLU TANK II 20
TING GSM card 10
Since it's just a car phone. Service for the year was 72 to 99 bucks.

It does have an alarm clock function too.
