Hi,
I don't have the Divx Player installed yet, but I was wondering, are there sites where you can legally download Divx movies for free ?
If so, where can I find them ?

People post their home movies on personal websites, upload them onto P2P networks, etc. in various formats...you may find some DivX if you search, but there's no universal collection. However, just about any 'commercial' movie you find in DivX format, or any other, offered free of charge is not legal.

Stage6.com. But it closed, too much trouble. It was owned by the DivX group but support and maintenance didn't justify the site. It was major excellent and I downloaded a ton of stuff. But it's gone. Sob.
The closest I've since found is http://www.veoh.com/ Most videos are in .avi and a few are in .dvx. Browsing the site can be troublesome, but some good videos are there. The .avi format is as good as .dvx. Usually. You have to download the free Veoh player for full access rights such as saving the videos. I have saved and burned videos to CD and they will play on any DVD player that will play .dvx. TV quality. Occasionally you can find some gems.
