If you have enable Autorecover (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/107686, and yes, that mentions Word 2007 also) you would have lost only 10 minutes (or even less if you had changed the default of 10 minutes).
If anywhere, look in the same folder as your original document. It might be a hidden file, so better set the folder options to show hidden files also.

help! I was working on a word doc & tried to change the layout before I saved it.I suddenly got a white screen & a message that word has stopped responding. When it came back up, the contents of my page were gone. Is there a place to view temporary files so I can recover some of this unsaved doc?
I have Windows 7 & Office 2007 on an HP 6444F, with 4Gb ram.
