Question

Where do I find a transaction #, can I buy a panel?

Apr 8, 2015 6:39AM PDT

I have an internally cracked PN60F8500 screen just like everyone else, I realize it may be futile but who can I talk to? Can I buy a replacement panel directly from Samsung? Has anyone had success with them replacing the panel?

Due to the cost you may explode but here goes.

www.samsungparts.com
shopjimmy.com

And of course ebay, craigslist to see if anyone has the same model but burnt out boards.

Parts suppliers

I checked them both, no luck. Thanks though. How hard can it be? I worked in manufacturing and we always had extra parts!

Very hard.

The panel usually runs as much as a complete TV. So for OOW service they swap the unit and charge for that. It's cheaper than stocking panels. In or out of warranty (OOW) same story. Changing a panel can run more labor than a straight swap with something from stock.

Replace it myself

I was thinking if I got a panel, I'd change it myself, got nothing to lose. I doubt they will replace the set.

Even if out of stock, get a price. It will be a shocker.

And for plasma sets you can't just slip in a new panel. There are adjustments made to match the set to the panel. Those are in the service manual so again you may be thinking you change it like a flat tire. Sorry, no it's more complicated than that.
