Have you tried another mouse? Any changes to your computer lately, hardware, software?

you really need to offer up a bit more info specific to your situation and in addition to what he asked, HOW LONG has this problem been going on? Have you tried a system restore to a date prior to the problem?

It could even be that you have set the mouse pointer to disappear while typing under the mouse applet in your control panel. Look at the settings on the mouse applet on the Pointer Options tab. While there you might try setting the "Show location ..." to see if pressing CTRL helps you find the pointer.

More details. I didn't mention the following facts earlier because I was looking for the easiest way to fix my problem. I am using dual montiors. one reason is I'm legally blind so I can extend my desktop. I can only get a duplicate screen shot on my AOC monitoer (display 2) and not an actual clone of my HP 2311X (display 1) I did notice that when my mouse disappears from the HP it shows up on my AOC 2306 but without any icons or start, quick launch etc. I tried two different mice a Kensington usb and a Microsoft usb 4500 and updated both drivers the same thing happens. So now I have disconnected the 2nd display (AOC) and seeing if the mouse disappears again. If it does I wonder where it will show up. The next thing I'm going to do is unplug the HP and install my AOC as display 1 and see if anything happens if the mouse stays on my screen then I will hook up the HP as the 2nd display and see what happens. It's a slow process because of my lack of vision and my only training is self taught and a bunch of computer mags. But thanks for noticing and I do appreciate any feedback. Oh yeah my graphics card is ATI Radeon 1200 with a ASUS dual core MB. XP Pro 4gh of RAM IDE hard drive IDE CD/DVD/ RW SATA CD/DVD/RW 1TB external drive Seagate
Compaq wireless keyboard.

About a month ago, I remember reading that a few people who had installed Internet Explorer 9 were experiencing a problem with a disappearing cursor.

Do you have Internet Explorer 9 installed on your computer?

You must check out your hardware.
May be your mouse pin is not connected properly.

That's a good answer but I tried different mice. Im pretty sure it's because I'm using dual monitors and something has worn out or come loose etc over the last few months, so I'm slowly eliminating stuff to find the problem. Also I am only using my HP monitor without my AOC and everything seems okay. Thank you
