Where can i get a driver for a maxtor onetouch III mini?

Jan 11, 2008 7:54AM PST

I'm hoping somebody can help me out, i've upgraded my powerbook G4 to run leopard and before i installed it i took everything i wanted off the hard drive and put it onto an external hard drive, a Maxtor onetouch III mini - including the driver for this thing - pretty stupid, i know.

When i plug it in the light comes on, flashes then stays on but the computer doesn't recognise it - Seagate were no help at all and i can't find the mac driver anywhere on the net. Got a lot of music and memories in this box and i can't get to them - can anybody help? I would be eternally grateful.

If this is a USB device, then did the OS load the USB drivers and/or required drivers as native support. Of course, does Maxtor(Seagate) support website offer any details for the new Mac OS as well.

still trying

thanks for the reply,

I've been up at my local apple shop, Scotsys and the fella up there told me that i shouldn't need a driver as it should open automatically with a mac - it didn't and he reckoned that it was 'goosed'. The drive is locked though and i need to have the program to enter my password to unlock the thing.

i managed to get the drivers for a PC and got it up and running on my pal's PC and was able to unlock it, run the manager which said that the drive was working ok - i couldn't, of course get any data off of it, but at least i know that my photos and music are still there.

I contacted Seagate and asked them to send me the drivers - the guy sent me a link to the downloads for the windows drivers so i've replied asking for the correct ones. i don't know, i'll just keep trying.

cheearsh.

hey I am having the same problem as you where the maxtor is attempting to find drivers even though it hasnt needed drivers for the past two years! I saw that seagate sent you a link for the drivers? Could you please post them because I have searched everywhere and haven't been able to find any. Thanks!
