Is there an online or downloadable American Version of English Dictionary. ( May be Webster or Oxford or some other? )
If yes, will somebody please give me an URL for it ?
Thank You.

Calvin

I bought a $10 program at walmarts that is Webster's New World Dictionary and Thesaurus. I put the icon in my task bar and help on words is just one click away!
I've also used http://dictionary.reference.com/. I prefer the Webster's. Both are easy to use.
you don't need to buy a program......just go to http://dictionary.reference.com/
this one might be OK
http://www.wordweb.co.uk/free/
Also here are some for the Microsoft Reader
http://www.microsoft.com/reader/downloads/dictionaries.asp
For general online use www.dictionary.com is generally good (You can add a handy toolbar for it here http://dictionary.reference.com/tools/toolbar/ ) and for other uses this link has several dictionaries (online) to choose from (the Oxford English Dictionary requires a subscription):

Edward O'Daniel has given you the link to an excellent
encyclopedia/thesaurus on http://www.wordweb.co.uk/free
This programme puts an icon in your systray and the programme can be accessed at any time in any programme just by clicking on the icon.
