Try the Fujitsu line of laptops. The newer C-2310 has "Irda", Serial, USB, Smart Card, Memory Stick, A: floppy drive, DVD/CD-RW drive, WIFI,and more.
The 2310 has another partner with a different model number. The differences are in memory capacity, drive size, and the DVD/ R-RW drive, that is a DVD read/write drive.
I have C-2210 ...C-2310 ...C-68??? or something.
Hello!
I have been considering upgrading my current laptop to a newer model. I have a Sony Vaio PCG-Z505JS Superslim Pro Notebook, which is an older PIII 650 that weighs about 3.75 pounds and is about 1" thick. It has a 12.1" 1024x768 XGA TFT screen. It doesn't have any built-in CD/DVD/Floppy drives - they are all external... I really like how small and lightweight it is. I have gotten very used to the keyboard and the touch pad, so it is really pretty functional for my uses. I do wish that it was faster, and that it would boot up faster.
ANYWAY...
I was hoping some day to upgrade and get a newer system that is also small and lightweight, and DOES have a CD/DVD drive internal, and has built-in Wifi.
HOWEVER...
One of the things that I make fairly regular use of with my current laptop is the INFRARED - I am able to 'beam' information to my Handspring Treo 600 wirelessly, which is very useful. I can't seem to find any newer systems that support Infrared communication. Most newer systems seem to be favoring Bluetooth, which the Treo doesn't have.
This is why I'm posting here. I'm hoping someone can point me at some choices for notebook systems that have this Infrared capability. I would potentially be interested in another Sony Vaio, or perhaps an IBM, Fujitsu, Toshiba, or HP. I was getting VERY interested in the Fujitsu Lifebook P7000D series notebook, but it doesn't seem to have Infrared.
Can anyone offer me any advice or recommendations?
Thank you very much!
