Question

Where are videos going?

Jun 28, 2011 10:59AM PDT

I have been downloading some videos, from the internet, which I THOUGHT would go into "My Documents", or "My Videos".

I have clicked on the "Download the video here" yet, when I look for the videos, I cannot find them in "temporary Internet files", the above two places, nor can I find the videos in the "waiting to be written to drive" places.

If the videos did NOT download to my drives, Documents, Videos, T.I.F.'s, then WHERE could the videos have downloaded to?

Clarification Request
Check and verify

Your browser setup location for "downloads" is on solid footing, its not going to change. Review your browser setup and see where they're suppose to go, if they're not there, then it never actually d/l'ed or in some mysterious way changed the d/l area(nope). Plus, it would help greatly to know what browser you're using and/or what method of d/l'ing is being done. To include if this is "real time" viewing and what you maybe d/l'ing is the cache or buffering of some online video source and you're not allowed to save the video. What video viewing pgm. is being used here as well.

Answer
Done A Search For Their File Type Yet?
Jun 28, 2011 1:59PM PDT

Depending on your operating system, click on Start-Search-All Files and Folders, (or open the C: drive from Windows Explorer, then look to the Search window in the upper right), then type "*.avi" or "*.wmv" or whatever file type you downloaded.. If they're on the computer, the should turn up.

Hope this helps.

This stupid just does NOT understand
Jun 29, 2011 12:11AM PDT

I am sure that IF I understood computers, about 10,000 times more, as you, obviously, do, then I would understand your answer. Your answer would, no-doubt, solve the problem, for a person who UNDERSTANDS computer technology.

The only part, of a computer, which I, truly, "understand", is the power button.

Thank you for the information, though. Happy

Vids etc.
Jun 29, 2011 12:38AM PDT

Sounds as if they were not SAVED to a location. Generally you will be asked, when downloading, to save the file(s) to a location, documents, videos, etc. So my guess would be that they are not in the system. Some sites will not allow you to save their material to a system due to copyright issues, that is another consideration. Unless you have already tried this, on the file that you want to save, right click on the item, you should see an option, "save to" or "send to" at that point you would (depending on OS) be able to choose documents, videos, pics. Once you have clicked on save (or send) go to the location, docs, vids, etc and see if the item made it to that location, at which point you should be able to open the file(s). Best of luck!

More stuff

Here is something for you to try, sort of a practice run for saving items. Open your web browser, probably Internet Explorer, there will be news items, etc. Pick of of the items, right click on it, you will see some options pop up, one will be "save target as" click on that, it will then tell you where the item will be saved, usually downloads, at the right bottom of that window you will see "save" click on that. Exit the browser and look in documents/downloads to make sure the item was sent to that location, it should be there, at that point you should be able to open the item form that locale. Best of luck!!
