Where are the reviews for HD camcorders that meet the requirements for an independent film maker? I have the specs that CNET told me to look for, but no HD camcorder reviews.

Answer
Unlikely.

The Blair Witch Project was shot on what? It was just a camcorder from a walmort/bestbay outlet.

I'm sure if the makers thought there was a market for such a camcorder it would have stickers on the box claiming "made for the indie film maker!"

Sorry but you have choices of many thousand models today. Most of the time it's not the camera that makes the best shot.

And it looked like it was made on a camera bought at Walmart

OK Bob. So what are you advising?

That it's not always the camera.

And while you are right, you also may want to see how the financials played out. Would you pass up such an opportunity because of the camera?

OK, look at what others are using. Why not copy them or get close?

I was on (shooting "behind the scenes" making of short subjects):

Good list.

And the audio is what I see most indies fail on their first outing. They try to use the audio or mics in the camera.

I'm convinced you need other audio recorders and do more work in post production. ADR is also a requirement for something nice.

Bob, I agree with the audio item

One of the key reasons I was on these sets was the Audio Engineer was the same for each. Her kit is generally a Fostex FR-2 field recorder (2 channel) or AVID/ProTools (Digidesign) 16 channel interface front ended into a MacBook Pro with the ProTools audio application.
