the scanned photos are of the wrong format. Just a thought, for I don't use ACDCee.
I use ACDCee and Windows 7. I had some photos scanned & I downloaded them into ACDCee. When I try to edit them I get an error message "cannot edit this file".
HELP!

I'd try Paint.net. And I'd get it from Ninite.com, here's why.

Can you view the files? If you can view and not edit it's definitely a rights issue. That means in the properties of the file it's for some reason set to READ only status. Typical error for the format being into compatible would mention something about the format in the error message. But the error message can edit the file seems to point to the file as a cause which mean you don't have edit rights to the file.
This is a SCANNED photo. So maybe photographic tool is not the right tool to use. Of course I see ACDCee have many version but who know which version is the right version (if there is such).
When I go to properties only the metadata shows. There are no tabs or options to get to where I can turn the read-only off???
Usually if it's read-only it asks me if I want to override it but not for these scans which were do by a now defunct co.
I am using windows 7
I have the ATTRIB and TAKEOWN commands for stubborn files.
