That's the first thing that I thought also.

I guess the other thing might be to make them pick fruits and vegetables.

That would be hard labour for me, if they put a quota or it was too warm/hot.

On the way to 'Nam

we stopped in Okinawa. Had a friend who ended up in the stockade. Passing there one day we saw other incarcerees doing close order drill. Our friend was sitting down, leaned up against the fence. When asked why he wasn't drilling he said he didn't want to and what were they going to do, send him to 'Nam!

buddy advising him. He might be better off being a permanent 'Point' or 'Rear Guard' in Nam. If sitting down while others doing drill, papers may be in the process for disobeying a lawful order, with possible Court Martial and........

He had what one call street smarts. Sure he knew any stockade time does not go toward enlistment time, but added to it.

Been to Okinawa

many times and have seen 'Stockade' prisoners lined up at a Messhall like at other military installations. Most of the guys in there are for violation of minor offenses, and just serve a small time. Violation of Stockade rules brings on other problems for themselves, as well as Court Martial that can be serious.
