I looked there first before posting here. All they seem to blather and care about over there are A/V (TV, Bluray) issues.
I looked there, and there is nothing. Please share your info here.
Anth and the others can comment on other than BR and HD topics. Give them a chance. I can't find your post in the Samsung forum.
I made a new thread called "P3 Release date?" in the Samsung forums. Hopefully it gets answered soon.
Ninjawill,
A little late, but I'm tracking this thread too.
I apologize if it seems we're all "AV", but we also handle consumer products, IT products and even some appliances.
Feel free to ask.
And no, I don't have a ship date yet. ![]()

I checked ninjawill's posting. It's already buried a couple of pages down with zero replies.
Heck, when they post about Panasonic camcorders on a Samsung forum...and people will respond to that over a Samsung-sourced product, we have no choice but to concede that the videoheads have indeed run amok and taken over the place, and that there's no way in H-E-double toothpicks that a Samsung MP3 question--or a Samsung-branded cellphone question, etc.--will get any love there.
Kinda like posting endlessly about Jeep woes on the car tech forum (sigh).
Ok last I checked(im guessing because all of my sources are false since its not out yet) it will have to come out sometime this month(man now im going to have to wait for it when I get back from DC)
I have been waiting for a while but the new player never come! So I end up order online from Hong Kong. So now, I need new earbuds for my Samsung P3. Any suggestion?
I'd like to know. And which model (storage cap) did you buy? How much did you pay? (nosy, I know...)
As for buds...how much do you want to spend?
They keep on saying the first half of 2009, but that came and went. I got tired of waiting and just bought an iPod touch with some graduation money. I feel like a sell out but I've wanted the P3 for so long and it just doesn't seem to be coming along.
The P3 is now listed on Samsung's US website. And I know I can buy it from overseas vendors. But so far it's still a no show with US vendors except with a few specialty importers; even Sony and its X-series players have beat Samsung to the punch. I can order the X-series TODAY on Amazon, who claims that they now have them IN STOCK.
Take that, Samsung.
gataccio and other posters:
It appears they have arrived.

(In store?)
It will likely show up at other retailers as well before too long.
I ran across this today, and promised that I'd respond here when they arrived.

on july 13, 2009 i went to dell.com to order the P3. their web site said it was available to purchase, which included FREE 3-5 day shipping. i placed the order and received an order confirmation via email. i'm looking at that confirmation as i type this post. it states in black and white that the estimated delivery date is by july 20, 2009. (don't forget dell offered 3-5 day free shipping)
today i have an email from dell saying the order of my P3 has been delayed, and the "Revised Estimated Delivery Date" is approximately JULY 27, 2009. I used the link that the samsung tech had in this forum.
I also noticed that on dell's web site the estimated delivery date for the samsung P3 IS NOW 1-2 WEEKS. does anyone have any idea what's going on here ? The only thing i can come up with is this particular mp3 player (P3) still isn't available. I could be wrong, and i'm sure the tech guys for this forum has a great excuse for this.
I've been making online purchases for years, and i have never experienced anything like this. Everyone, feel free to comment on this.
I feel for you. Evidently someone messed up (I'd bet that it's Samsung, just based on past anemic performance in getting the P3 here).
Sorry Samsung. As much as I wanted to see your product I ordered a Sony X-series Walkman because it actually showed up at the local Sony Style store, and I could actually touch, play and listen to the thing. The only downside was the local store only had the 16GB unit, so an online purchase through Amazon was necessary for the 32GB unit I desired.
To date the P3 is still vaporware with any of the B&M retailers around here, though honestly I doubt that I actually would've went with the P3 given how quickly smitten I'd become in only a few minutes with the Sony. Still it's a shame that the P3 has taken so long just to get to this STILL no-show point.
make_or_break,
so i decided to sit on the order i had for the P3, just to see what would happen. well, on july 17, 2009 i received a 3rd mail from dell.com stating the "estimated delivery date" has been changed, AGAIN. dell states the P3 has shipped, and suppose to arrive by july 22.
here's what's weird. there's no tracking number or shipper's name. the email said to check back in 24 hrs for tracking information. here it is two day later and still no tracking information when i go to dell's website to check the order status.
cl5621,
The information I received from Dell was that the unit was available, and while the bottom two choices were 'Temporarily out of stock', the first two were "available to ship". That was apparent on the website. That's why I posted that particular link.
If a different player meets your needs and is available and makes you happy, do what is best for you. Believe me, I'd love to see you have a P3 as bad as you want one.
I posted that link to help you get one because I thought they had them.
Posting release dates, availability, and pointing people towards specific retailers will not happen again. I apparently made you angry, and for that, I apologize for the error. It was unintentional.

am i angry, nah. disappointed ? a little. the samsung P3 had a couple features that i wanted in a mp3 player, but i think its time to move on now. i'm just thinking out loud here, but my mp3 options are the new sony x-series, the ipod touch, or wait for the release of the next-gen zune.
dell has already charged the cost of the P3 on my CC, confirmed a delivery date of 7/20/2009, then change that date to an "REVISED ESTIMATED DELIVERY DATE" of 7/27/2009. for all i know that date may be revised again.
well, i'll be calling dell shortly to cancel the order. good luck to the ones who finally get THEIR hands on a P3.
I saw and played with a 16GB P3 at the local Fry's this evening. Couldn't tell for sure since none of my own music was on board, but it seemed to sound quite nice. Thought the scrolling action was a bit on the jerky side, and wasn't all that impressed by the appearance of the home screen; the icons were a bit cartoonish to me and I couldn't figure out what's up with that stupid pulsating digital clock display. It seemed to operate similarly to my Walkman X-series, but from my brief time with it it's not making me regret my X1061 purchase.
This particular Fry's had both the X-series Walkman and P3 demonstrator units mounted right next to one another, making it easy to compare the two. I have to say that the P3 appears to be nice, but the Sony seemed more impressive in execution. Suppose it SHOULD BE, considering that for the same amount of storage cap, there IS a hundred US dollars difference in price between the two.
If you get the firmware update for the Samsung P3, the scrolling and touch sensitivity is supposed to be much better.
is the purpose of this firmware update only for scrolling and touch sensitivity ? i'm having problems trying to install this firmware update.
cl5621,
The descriptions for the firmware updates are clickable on the Samsung support site. Most of them list what they address.

Samsung Tech
Is the most recent update for P3's in the U.S.A. ? Also, i'm having problems installing this update to my P3. my OS is win vista.
cl5621,
Which version are you trying to update, and what's the issue?
--HDTech
samsung HDTech:
it states on samsung's web site the language for the firmware update file is Korean. i assume this is compatible with the P3 as well ? i'm still having problems installing this firmware update.
also, the manual states a firmware update can be done through Emodio, but when the program checks for a firmware update a message comes back stating their is no new firmware update ?
cl5621,
The file was likely engineered and updated in Korea, but I'm not sure why the supported language says Korea when the others say English. I'll see if I can ge an answer on Monday.
