Question

When and how often to shut down my PC

Mar 18, 2017 7:02AM PDT

I am using a 3 year old Dell XPS 8700 pc running windows 10 with all updates current. I have been getting conflicting information about when and how often to shut down my PC. Dell's concierge help desk says "whenever I'm not using it". Earlier, another person on the desk said about once a week. What does the community say?

Here, We Turn Them Off Each Evening
Mar 18, 2017 7:02PM PDT

At home, when we go to bed. At work, a small government agency, they're turn OFF when everyone goes home at night. Primarily, because we have power shortages here in Southern Cal occasionally, and it saves money and power. Except for our servers, which are required to be ON 24/7 because they could be accessed at any time.

Hope this helps.
