I have seen posts of years ago where the claim is that WhatsApp can not be backup and restore from a Windows 10 device to a Android device. Can any assist or confirm please

I just migrated phones and used my Google Sync feature and it all came across fine as I logged into my Whatsapp on my phone. At no time did I get on my Windows 10 machine.

Why would I involve Windows at any time?
