Question

What's wrong with my Samsung TV?

Sep 6, 2015 2:09PM PDT

i have a Samsung model HL-R5067W , the video shows how my TV begins to mess up, and I turn it off, and try to turn it on but it makes a huge fan like sound about 3-4 times, and then the front button blinks 2 red one and one green, and can't turn it on for about 15 min then i'll get normal screen, but after an hour or so it repeats itself.

Answer
Sounds like it needs service.

This set shipped in 2001 so have your TV tech open it up and dust it out and check all the fans. The tech will take care not to get dust in the light engine but it sounds like heat. Given the age it's a safe bet it needs service.

I should of mentioned this, i opened the back and took the small fan out, and cleaned the heck out of it, it was really dusty.

And if it never was cleaned every few years the heat took its toll. You may be looking at new boards. Your TV tech will guess which to change first.

-> There is more an electronic's tech would such as replace heat sink compound but that would be all I will share on that as there are lethal voltages inside and we are into non user serviceable items at that point. Again, this would be all I have to mention for those that do such work.

UPDATE: i took everything out, and noticed the bulb fan would not spin *** good, I replaced it and now it is running like a champ, thanks for saying it may be a heat issue that helped!
