whats up with Verizon?

Feb 12, 2005 8:12PM PST

Because Verizon sells some inferior products . we had to purchase 2 differnet phones one was brought about a yr into our contract and the other was just purchased 2 months ago. I read the "new every 2 agreement" according the the "rules" if you no longer use the original phone that you signed your contract with .. you no longer are eligiable for the $100 toward a new phone is this true?.. our contract with Verizon is up in July and i like the service.. but .. who can afford to buy there phones ??????

whats up with Verizon?

When I lost my original phone, I was able to get a new phone through the oops plan because the Radio Shack stores refuse to offer insurance in my area. I got a Kyocera 2235 for $80, but the condition was that I had to start my contract over when I went that route. I later replaced it with the model phone I originally got, which was a Motorola 120c. When my contract was about up, August 31, which was the earliest I could upgrade, and I got the instant credit, but I only got $50 instant credit because my current phone, the Samsung a650 had a mail-in-rebate of $50. Unless the rules changed since my upgrade, then you're still eligible for the up to $100 instant credit as long as you complete 1 yr., 10 months of your 2 year contract, or if you decide to stretch it out for exactly 2 years, then you're eligible. I however recommend going through the Verizon Wireless store for new phones. Not all Verizon Wireless authorized agents are honest. And my experience with going through Radio Shack and the attitudes I got from other authorized agents, have caused me to frown on them. But I do agree that most phones through Verizon Wireless are crap, and worse, most are now all-digital, which doesn't work for people like me who travel into Michigan and Wisconsin, where not Verizon, but Alltel still have a number of analog only towers, especially along the Michigan side of the Indiana/Michigan state line.

Verizon's new every two year plans

I've had Verizon for the last seven years but they are no different than dealing with the bank. The New every two years is just a come on. They give you $100 off the purchase price of a new phone.

No one that I know of has ever paid "full price" for a cell phone. The new customer fresh off the street gets the same price you get and often times they will get even a better deal as a new customer.

Most phones through Verizon Wireless are crap

Most phones through Verizon Wireless are crap... Why is this?? I know that Verizon has close to the best coverage but have the cheapest and crappiest phones. Those LG phones look like children's toys.

Any word on Verizon adding more or upgrading their phones. I love Sprint's phones but HATE their coveverage and service. I was with Sprint for 3 years and vowed to NEVER use themagain.

Verizon phones are no good

Well, I just switched to Verizon and got the LG 6100 phone. I find the earpiece in particular to lack quality. People sound like they are in a tunnel and the speakerphone is very tinny. Does anyone have a phone with speakerphone and camera that they like?? I am considering taking phone back I have about 4 more days before initial 15 day trial is up.

Verizon phones are no good (Mine is Good)

I've had Verizon Wireless for 3 years and I now own the Samsung a650, a basic color tri-mode flip phone. This phone has held a consistant digital signal, even in areas where my old Motorola 120c phone wouldn't work. While it doesn't work everywhere, at least it works in more areas and has been good for me. I've used the phone in Chicago and Milwaukee and does well for me. My brother had the LG VX4400, a phone I considered getting and glad I didn't, after my brother complained that reception was that bad. His phone had to be charged up a lot because he lives in Knox, Indiana and his phone bouced from digital to analog a lot. I tried my phone out there and it held a steady digital signal, which I was surprised. He now has the Motorola V265 and complains about that one too, and I told him to get Samsung. He hates mefor having a phone that works better than his, and his has more frills than mine. I don't have the external display or a camera on my phone, like he does. When my contract is up next year, I plan to get a new Samsung, as long as tri-mode is still available in the Samsung brand.

New Verizon phones

I recently got the run around when trying to replace 2 phones. My experience...keep calling until you get someone that will actually help. Each customer service rep will tell you different info. I finally got the intended result when calling the business support line for business discounts. The people working those lines have a little more authority. They replaced our 2 family share phones for no charge and sent them out 2nd day air.
