Whats up, Dock?

Dec 17, 2005 9:37PM PST

I use Eudora for my mail and have its quick launch icon in the dock. This is a minor, but everytime I get mail and the message as such comes on the screen, I click OK, but the stupid icon won't stop jumping out of the dock until I click it or the mail program which may be laying under another window. Its like a baby having a temper tantrum. Very annoying when I'm reading something else. How do I disable that?

Jumping Icons

You will probably be annoyed to find that the Eudora icon is doing exactly what it should be doing. Trying to attract your attention!
It will only stop jumping when you click on the it or the email program itself, thus acknowledging the fact that you have new mail.

I don't think there is a way to disable it

Hop and bop...

MSFT Entourage does the same thing, it keeps hopping and bopping until you actually click on it. As mrmacfixit mentioned, it does what it's supposed to do: visually getting your attention.

in Dock preferences stops the bouncing when opening a program but I suppose that has no effect on a program already open will it ?

How about Duck tape across the bottom of the screen ?
