Many companies boast for the "fastest laptop in the world" but you must remember in a few months it will be surpassed. I'm not saying that it will be ancient, no, but be wary of smaller manufacturers. First off, the most popular, and sometimes the most expensive, companies will be Alienware and Dell. Each has pros and cons. Dell is slightly cheaper, but not AS fast. Alienware recently had some quality problems, but is very fast. Then there is Sager, and a few others. You said weight and price don't matter, but what about heat? It is a major problem with these gaming laptops... It may be the fastest, but you shouldn't have to sit it on a block of ice to make it run. (Please don't try.) Ideal Specs:

P4 with high Frequency, 2.5Ghz or greater OR a Fast AMD which is slightly better, but the speeds aren't great.

7800GTX. (Anyone know of SLI or dual-gpu for laptops?)

Big Hard-drive: Try to get 7,200RPM. There are desktop 10k and 15k, but I have not seen them in notebooks, yet.

2GB of RAM, speeds differ for AMD and Intel
AMD: 3200
INTEL: Depends, get around 4200

SB Audigy Sound Card, Don't skimp with those onboards.

For some reason, they only seem to offer the 7800GTX with the Desktop CPU's, and not with their mobile counterparts. Also, AMD is hard to find on a mobile, so unless you are a die-hard fan, I'd go for INTEL.

Make sure to get a large screen, maybe around a 17". Some of the nicer ones have cameras... I'd personally reccomend Alienware.

gaming laptop.. stay away from Alienware

Alienware makes a pretty great product.. I have a Area51M-7700, but I have has all kinds of support issues. Bad keyboard, missing pixels, and the final straw was a bad power adapter that took out my motherboard. Trying to get it repaired even with the 3 year warranty has been a nightmare. I have had the laptop 10 mos. and 2 1/2 mos it has been down waiting for parts and repair. So when your looking for a laptop don't just look at the product look at the support.
