That depends on the error. Sometimes it's hardware and you need a tech to fix it. Sometimes it's a wrong setting you can correct. Sometimes it's malware you must remove. Sometimes the system is so corrupted you need a clean install of the OS. And so on.

i need to do a custom install but my vista didnt come with a disk omg how frustrating,custom install b4 i can upgrade to win 7 n ive not got the slightest clue lol not very good at techy things

A clean (custom) install of Windows 7 should work, even with an upgrade license, if there's a Windows Vista on the disk.
