Question

Whats happening with my pc, I need help.

Jun 12, 2018 11:31PM PDT

Hello! I am seeking help on a PC that I built recently built (this is my first pc to build so I need help). The problem that I am having is that when I plug in my headset with a microphone attached it doesnt let me use the headset as the stereo and the microphone as a microphone. An example that I can give is: lets say that I pluged my headset into my computer, a pop up of an asus audio thibg pops up and gives me the option to choose between a "mic in" and "headset in" if i choose the mic in one i can use the mic, but all the audio ingame goes through my monitor instead of my headset, when I click on headset in, i cant use the mic. I would really really love if someone where to help me out with this! I have an asus motherboard(idk if it has anything to do with the problem).

There are 2 kinds of audio jacks: (a) suited for headsets like this (mic and headphones combined), or (b) suited for only mic or speaker.
- Your motherboard manual will tell what kind you have. Since you didn't mention the model number, nobody here can check.
- Moreover, the audio driver needs to know. Did you install all drivers from the asus site for this motherboard? Don't trust Windows for that.

The model of the motherboard is: PRIME B350M-A. And there are only 2 audio jacks, one just for mics and one just for the head set. I need to know if there is some way i can use both so I can talk in a chatting app, discord. I have downloaded all the nessary things from the asus website. When I go to the "Sound" thing via the Control panel and it says that either the headset isnt connected or the mic isnt. When i put the headset option mentioned the headset works and it shows in the Sound cintrol panel, but when I choose the mic option the headset dissappers and the sound comes out if my monitor.

Head to the Playback Devices in Windows (forget the realtek or such control) and select what playback you wanted to use?
