TRDsupra98,
I'm not sure where some of these references are coming from. Unless I'm mistaken, I have never either suggested that anyone "hope" for a good unit, nor have I suggested that dueling problem trade-offs is how business is done. On the contrary, I've encouraged people to do business with reputable businesses, ones that have a return policy and back their policies in the unlikely even that something goes wrong. I have not once suggested that a customer keep a product that they're not satisfied with. In some cases, I'm the first one to say, "take it back" or "exchange it", and "Do what makes you happy".
This website is a world-wide accessible site, so I see issues from several different countries, on several different product lines and yes, many of them collect here and naturally, have similar symptoms. Out of the hundreds of thousands of units that are sold, these issues may seem plentiful for a website, but in the big picture, are incredibly minimal when put in perspective. These issues, as a result, are handled on a case-by-case basis.
I would recommend calling 800-SAMSUNG and having a different service technician come out. Show them the problem, and they report back to see what can be done to fix the issue. It's okay to insist that the unit is not okay if it is not okay. That said, screen uniformity issues (flashlighting issues) are inherent in all LCD panels. If it's excessive, then it should be fixed.
I would call 800-SAMSUNG and see if you could get a service technician to take a second look at it.

I have noticed that customer tendencies, when buying a new Samsung set, is that they hope to get a decent one, some even mention trade-offs, somewhere along the line of "i'm ok with a dead pixel as long as i don't have the 'flashlight' condition." I ,for instance, was unaware of this screen uniformity issue known as clouding or flashlighting. I recently bought a 850 series and came down with this issue. thinking I was one of the unlucky few, and after some time on google, found that this plagues many customers. I had a tech come out to check and he labeled it as "normal"...really frustrating. Since when should you HOPE for a good product?...anyway i was told that they couldn't diagnose the problem and therefore couldn't do anything about, which angered me quite a bit. I am open to all suggestions as to what i can do to resolve this problem. I will attempt to see if Samsung customer service is any better.
