Whats going to happen to my information?

If i upgraded to XP would my applications and programs be deleted? If so should I make a back up of them?

It wouldn't be deleted, if you use a upgrade copy of Windows.

your information whether you upgrade or not. Never have the only copy of important data stored on your hard drive.

Make backup copies to CD or elsewhere of all your important files, eg pictures, music, documents, email address book, email settings, etc.

Make a complete inventory of your system as it is currently using something like Belarc Advisor, (can be downloaded for free from www.belarc.com/free_download.html ).

(Sorry, could not put the full clickable link in, as CNET's filter removes the word ''free'' from any link).

This checks your system hardware, software, licenses, serial numbers, display adapters, network cards etc, and lists them into a web page for you to see immediately. You can print it out and save it before you upgrade. If you have to upgrade any drivers or software afterwards, the information may come in handy.
