whats going on here?

I notice starting on Friday May 27, 2011 that when I go to everything will download for the page except this one item.
It says

(1 item remaining) downloading picture http://

I'll leave this page up, but even after 10 minutes this still has not loaded What is this and what is happening? is it an infection? My security scans show no infection

It seems OK

I had a quick look on Google for, and what I see suggests this is to do with the move from IPv4 to IPv6.

IP is your Internet Protocol address and has been issued by your ISP under IPv4. But those IP addresses are running out, and a new version IPv6 has been introduced which allows many more IP addresses to be allocated.

Many ISPs are not yet ready for the change over, and what you see may be Yahoo's test to see if you are using IPv6 yet.

The link itself, is just to an image file, (test.png), so I suspect they are testing whether they can download an image to your browser via any IPv6 connection. As they cannot, (because you are likely still using IPv4), the image fails to load.

There's more about IPv6 in my post here;;threadListing

So in my view, nothing to worry about, it is just Yahoo testing.

so its not blocked because a virus?

Its odd because I see nobody else with this issue

meaning besides the OP..

am I the only other person to notice this?

Doesn't appear to be malware.

It just looks to me like the Yahoo web site is attempting to download a .png image, but failing. That's not a virus.

If you see it again and the web site is otherwise fully loaded, just hit the "Stop" icon in the browser address bar, (in Firefox it is red color, combined with the Refresh button), and that should halt the server trying to download the image.

I hiy stop Icon

and the message
(1 item remaining) downloading picture http://

still remains.

now when I go ahead an click on one of the yahoo items, such as news story, when that page loads up there is no
(1 item remaining) downloading picture http://
message at the bottom of that screen

so mybe its just a test on the IPv6 capabilities?

meant to sa TRY to stop it

using the red x at the top of Browser

Interestingly, when I contact yahoo about it and mention if they are testing IPv6 capability, they respond but don't address that specific question
