I could not find much on the T7 but I do not expect it to be much different from the T33.
You may want to concentrate on the SD500 as it is a significant notch above the SD400. And the Canon SD500 cost the same as the Sony T33 (T7).
Here is a comparison of specifications:
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=canon_sd500%2Csony_dsct33&show=all
Both cameras take excellent photos.
The T33 (T7) has a very weak flash, rated for 5.5 feet. The SD500 flash is rated for 16.4 feet.
The T33 (T7) has 5 megapixels and the SD500 has 7.
The T33 (T7) has a 2.5 inch LCD and the SD500 is 2.0 inches.

There is a recent review on the SD500:

Mega pixels aside, which of these cameras is better? i.e. picture quality, reliability, ease of use... I dont think the DSC-t7 has hit north american shelves yet, but I've heard mixed reviews from overseas about it, same mixed reviews for the Canon SD500... anyone got any ideas?
thanks
