Whats a controller?

can any one explain to me in simple terms what a controller really is in computers
in a very easy way to understand thank you

There are game controllers.

On motherboards there are IDE controllers and since this is just 2 of a few hundred you can see that we can't cover them all. Basically it's some bit of hardware between the CPU and something.

Controller is a chip or expansion card that interfaces with peripheral devices. This acts as a link between two computer parts.
