Question

What XP install CD do I need for product key sticker laptop?

by JFCreally / April 15, 2012 7:16 AM PDT

I have a inspiron 5150 with Windows XP Home product key sticker on the back of the laptop. What XP install cd so I need to activate it? The HDD is wiped clean.

I have a burned cd that someone sent me an .iso image to burn for my other laptop but the harddrive already had xp installed in it. And it just booted right up without me having to type in a key. But when I try it on the other one it activate's a trail version and the product key on the sticker won't activate.....

Thanks in advance..

The CD you received from Dell with the laptop. If you lost that contact their customer service.

I didn't receive one. I bought the laptops used. From searching online though, there seems to be different cd's. I am just trying to figure out which one activate's the product key sticker on the back of the laptop. As I'm sure Dell will charge an arm and a leg for one.

Yes, it's the one from Dell.

Dell's keys are locked to their machines. After a decade though you may have to get a new license which is a bit more.

One of the best French door fridges we've tested

A good-looking fridge with useful features like an auto-filling water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It was a near-flawless performer in our cooling tests.
