A Few Ideas
Jun 24, 2009 4:06AM PDT

Demosher,
based on your post you are looking for a gaming notebook and are not too concerned with weight? With your budget you can either go with a Centrino 2/Core 2 Duo, look for P8xxx series processor or go big with mobile Core 2 Quad. I would look into something from Asus, Dell, Toshiba or HP.

Good luck and hope this helps some.

3 to 5 year durability
Jun 24, 2009 4:33AM PDT

The only two brands I trust to last that long are Apple and Lenovo Thinkpads.

HP, Dell, Toshiba have all crapped out on me before the 3 year mark. Some before the 1 year mark.

A decent match. . .

You might want to consider looking at the Lenovo IdeaPad Y730. I searched for graphics intense systems with fast processor speed at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-laptop-scout/default.aspx, and it was one of the first systems that popped up.

It has a superfast processor, great graphics and sound. For a little more cash, the Samsung P560 might also be a good system for you.

I hope this is helpful, let me know if you've got more questions.

Cheers,
