What / Where did " Should not see me.exe" come from

Feb 17, 2004 9:32PM PST

Laptop at work- attempted to install Dlink wireless card-apparently installed ok-config wizard wouldn't open, used add/remove to remove- ( heard that Dell Inspiron have a prob with this-thats ok-this laptop can live without it) during reboot after successful removal an alert box came up that Should not see me.exe was not responding, did I wish to close manually? but it closed on it's own before I cuold click yes. NEVER seen that sort of message-whats up?? did spyware search, registry search,AV scan, and just to be safe restored to last week-did all that again-turned off system restore to remove all old restore points-turned back on- rescanned-still clean-I may be sorta paranoid but I don't like odd messages on shutdown--

What puzzles me the most is
Feb 18, 2004 4:42AM PST

The inability to find the executable in any kind of search-all files-nothing hidden-incl system- or searching the registry- even for the ME thing addressed in the reselleratings link above. Reminds me of the CD an old ISP setup used which behind a "Vines 386" or something like that in autoexec and I was a very long time finding out how to kill the error message and where it had come from- then of course the ISP guys denied that it was on their CD. Thats when I resolved to attempt to do all internet setups manually...

...like it's not a .exe file at all, but simply a "pop up message" of sorts which is hard coded into the uninstall program. It is displayed in unusual situations and is only a "progression window" which indicates the progress of the uninstall, etc.

At least, you don't have a virus or spyware.

Hope this helps.
