I just recently got off a jury for rape

I can understand the verdict. Many of the jurors were not sure that she was telling the truth in the beginning. One of the problems was that her testimony was very stilted and it was difficult to hear her.

One of the things we did was have her testimony re-read to us. Afterwards there was a unanimous verdict that he was guilty. I explained that I had to testify once and you tended to disassociate from the trama so you can get through the testimony.

We did all agree that he was a creepy guy and we definitely didn't want him back on the street but there was no rush to judgment. We also agreed that the cop didn't do her job.

Afterwards, the DA came in and told us about this guy. He had a 28 page rapsheet with felony time in jail. Turns out the girl was given a tranquillizers so she could testify without going into hysterics. She was even moved far away so he couldn't get to her. I got the impression that the DA was surprised that we found him guilty on all counts.

They may have just been tired after the two-hour closing argument.

I have to think that every false charge

of rape that runs through the courts and makes headlines, frees a fair number of real offenders. Sad
