My son went to such a school and while I did get him a setup I didn't reveal that it was cheap but it never mattered since the school supplied the gear and he never had to use his own.
You can save 500 to 1000 if you want.

Hello,
I am a 21 year old student of television and film at college and will be at University next year studying a similar course. I am looking at purchasing a camera within the next month and would be so grateful if someone could help show me the best option for me?
Basically it needs to film, as film making is what I will be studying and I would like to use it for freelance work so it must be of a decent standard. I was looking at DSLRs (e.g a 650D I could get new for £500) as they're highly rated, film in HD and you can get great lenses and accessories for them.
I was thinking, is there a better choice of camera I could get, that still has interchangeable lenses and has lots of accessories available and why is it better? I am looking on spending £500-£1000 on a camera.
If I get the 650D I could spend the extra £500 on a nice lens, tripod, bag, extra battery pack or something. But I don't go to Uni until next summer and have 6 months I can save for lots of accessories but having a decent model is something I would really like first. Plus I know that the majority of people on the same course as me will each have a DSLR and I was wondering if there was something better for that money?
Looking to spend £500-£1000
Video is priority but taking photos is a great bonus
Obviously high frames a second in HD is a bonus, many lenses and accessories available to better
I don't know a lot about lenses and cameras (severely need to learn) but any help here I wil be so grateful for.
Apologies for the essay and if there's incorrect grammar (I am tired) Many thanks for reading this and for any help!
