Small Tablet or 42" tv-monitor
Nov 9, 2005 12:04PM PST

So I have already have a cellphone, an mp3 player (creative zen micro rules!!), a digital camera, and an IPAQ 4355 PDA with the think outside stowaway bluetooth keyboard as well as the think outside bluetooth travel mouse. I also have a 14.1" acer tablet, which is a pretty decent performer.... it has never frozen and I have had it for 10 months now. I also bought a 20" monitor-tv, which has the same resolution as my computer. So there are two things on my wish list:
-Small tablet (I think the most lightweight and longer lasting one is the acer tablet... the 10.1" acer tablet. Just because I think the laptop I currently have is too big to take to class: people from behind me can see what I'm doing.
-Or a 42" tv-monitor. I want to be able to see it from across the room, and I think this side can accomodate that. And it has to be a monitor as well, because most of what I watch is on my laptop, so without this feature, it would only be good once in a while.

I want EVERYthing, but... ;-)
Nov 9, 2005 12:10PM PST

I'd REALLY like a very nice, sizable HDTV. Getting back to reality (money), however, I think I'd like to make better use of what I already have by either reconfiguring one of my existing desktops (Dell P4, 3.0gHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, 300GB Ext HD, Audigy 2 Sound, yadda yadda yadda... or almost the same config from HP, although 512MB RAM for now, or maybe even my old but perfectly useful Dell P3 (w/19" NEC Multisync Monitor)) or buying a wholey new desktop tricked out with THE WORKS and XP Media Edition -- so my home theater system FINALLY would join the 20th, er..., 21st century with the addition of total control over *live* and/or recorded TV.

New Desktop
Nov 9, 2005 1:09PM PST

I've gone back and forth about whether to replace my 4 year old HP Pavillion with a new desktop or with a laptop. I have decided I don't need to run around with a laptop so I am now looking to buy a new desktop. I understand Wallyworld will have a special sale price on an HP come 'black friday.' If this is true I hope there are some left after the holiday so that I can put it on lay-a-way.

All I want for....
Nov 9, 2005 8:31PM PST

A SmartPhone, specifically the SF66 or one of it?s brothers. It?s a Cell, a MP3 Player, Video Player, it has Wifi, Bluetooth, IrDA, 1.3Mega pixel camera (not on all models), and all the PDA things. The crowning features are the usable Slide Out keypad, Large Screen and the WiFi.

I Want a Big TV
Nov 9, 2005 8:47PM PST

I want one of those hi-res 1080p LCD TVs, the 45" from Sharp or the 46" from Samsung. When you walk through the store displays, the pictures on those models stand out in such a startling manner that even the nice plasma sets (that cost even more) pale in comparison.

But, in the absence of Santa Claus, my finances make this merely a dream, and perhaps the "Miracle of Bushonomics" will eventually subside by the time the new large-screen OLED TVs are ready for market. It would please me to have a big-screen TV that would roll down like the old projector movie screens we had in elementary school.

A new 5G Ipod !
Nov 9, 2005 11:15PM PST

I still listen to my 1 Gen Ipod and have been saying as long as it still played I wouldn't upgrade but the Ipod with Video would be a must have. Most likely It'll be a while before I get one. Maybe It'll be a birthday present to myself since I plan on buying the kid's Christmas list.

A well-matched system BUT,
Nov 9, 2005 11:34PM PST

When comparing components for a well-matched system of 27" TV, VHS VCR, DVD, Tivo, and a stereo receiver? you can't.

Advertisers, Consumer Reports, store ads, ratings in zines, on Cnet, and computer searchs.

You can't compare apples to apples. Why can't there be a place where ratings are made of matched components that all you need is ONE remote? Or how they work in diferent sized rooms. Like, you don't need a set of 36" speakers in a small one bdrm. apt unless you don't mind the whole neighborhood pounding on your door. Not every one lives in a 5,000 sq.ft. house on 20 acres.

If your living room is 20x20', having a 45" plasma means you have to sit in the next room to enjoy the whole screen.

Tired of three remotes

I picked other becuase I do not know how to classify the RIM Blackberry 7250. I have wanted a Blackberry for a while, but US Cellular doesn't have any good ones to choose from yet, and the only other provider in my area is Alltel, who as far as I know, does not have any Blackberry units.

All I want for Xmas is a State-of-the-Art Dell Gaming Rig
Nov 11, 2005 2:58PM PST

Just saw today Dell profits are below what they'd anticipated and we should look to some aggressive pricing. That was MY Xmas present!

I just hope some of that aggressive pricing is on higher-end 9000 series gaming rigs..........

And WHAT are they thinking with that hideous WHITE & silver box for the 9000 series? Oh yeah I want to spend 2K on an UGlLY-AZZ box. It will look like it's ready for the dump about 3 days if I buy it. It's been around for a while........ Dell, buy yourself a clue and PLEASE out the Dimesion 9K back in a decent bos. Could their lates POS bo have anything to due with lack of interest.

What IDIOT thought white is a good idea for a computer box? Give me BACK my Black and Silver, I don't want to blow an extra $500+ just to get a decent-looking XPS box. I may be blonde but even I'm not THAT stupid.

Other - Murphy's Law of Computing
Nov 13, 2005 9:52PM PST

I only wish for Murphy's Law of Computing to slow down for the season. Keeping up with the changes is becoming a full time job. Even forums and reviewers as provided by CNET can't give me the space to think and evaluate.

So all I want for Tech Christmas is a "quiet", "slow", unchanging "state" of tech for at least two weeks!
