I own a Lenovo T-61 which came with a pre-installed version of Vista (Home-Basic). I read in the forums that one can get better performance if unnecessary start-up programs are turned off. On typing windows+R and msconfig-->starup, following is the list of programs that appears: Which of the following can I safely turn off?
Thinkpad power manager
Blog (thinkpad utility)
Synaptics Pointing device
on screen display
thinkvantage active protection system
thinkpad easy eject utility
SMax 4PNP application
Inter common user interface
diskeeper disk defragmenter
thinkvantage productivity center
Java platform SE 6 US
thinkvantage access connections
client security solution
symantec security technologies
digital line detection
I know trivial things like gtalk/google/adobe/real can be turned off but I simply dont understand some of these things like say, digital like detection. Is it ok to turn it off?
Thanks for your time,
