A 19'' KDS XtremeFlat CRT, the main one (I do graphics), and a 17'' Acer flatscreen, for the layer palette, tools, screen ruler, & all the stuff that doesn't have to be 32-bit color. I'm so glad the prices have finally come down and made this setup possible, but setting it up was 180 degrees away from from what the Windows docs describe. (Beware! My Intel P4 system has an onboard graphics module--it's good--but an AGP video card would disable the motherboard's module, and the PCI vid card I got first--after reading and asking and checking *thoroughly*--was 100% unacceptable to XP pro. Either monitor would work, but not both; system just would not continue after the 2nd monitor should have come on, and the order made no difference, drivers made no difference, even swapped in another hard drive with its own XP: nada. Got a vid card that can handle 2 monitors, and this wastes the onboard graphics, and I'm about 90% convinced that the two monitors are working now because of one spell and 4 little figurines placed [during the solstice] at special locations in the room.)
I've got a very small work space and I desperately needed a flat-panel monitor. I found this one on sale and even though it is now 4 years old, it's still going great!
Only one complaint: When playing Myst I found that I couldn't up the brightness or contrast level to the ones specified in the game, but I still manage to play - it must not be that far off.
For everything else, it's perfect. I only wish it was 17 inches, but if I compare it to CRT moniters of the same size, my LCD is a lot easier on the eyes: reading and clarity.
I imagine newer high-end models are fantastic!
I am retired as an electronics engineer, with just the Old Age (State) pension and a company pension for income, so I tend to buy either second-hand gear or build my own where appropriate. The body for this computer is (originally) a Dell Optiplex GXa with changed RAM and CD-RW, and the monitor is one picked up second hand NECH which I cannot trace in origin. Result, the monitor is 14in diagonally, keeps me going, allows me to play with my toys (as my wife says). It might be nice to be able to afford a bigger one, but this one will have to do for now. When you are considering new items, price is an important factor for many people.
Samsung 150MP, ended up getting for free from a/v company foreclosure auction. Didn't work when I got it, got my money back, opened it up and plugged in one wire, works great. Enjoy watching TV in PIP while working on PC.
I am running Windows XP, Zone Alarm Suite, Trojan Remover and SpyWare Doc.
It seems that every other time I sign on someone has turned on the remote assistance funtion. Then all sorts of weird things begin happening to my computer. Pages refresh, I even had an extra user added.
I switched to Firefox, but I'm not sure that solved the problem. How can I possibly prevent this? I'm using cable which is on all the time but when I'm not at the computer I place the modem on standby and engage the Internet lock on ZoneAlarm.
HELP?
Carolyn R.
I have a Dell D1728D-LS, after looking around for a while for a XP Driver for it. I have found that it runs just fine with the Win98 Driver with AST RAVE 3D Pro.
This moniter came with my system I did not order it separate. It seems to work very well and the colors are bright and crisp. Works good so far.
I have a triple monitor array, a 20'' Planar @1600x1200, a 17'' Planar @ 1280x1024, and another 20'' Planar @ 1600x1200 all have black frames so after a bit you no longer notice the dicontinuity for a superwidescreen effect.
Resolutions included for 'clonc' in an above post.
I have 2 Hitachi 21 inch CRT monitors and 1 Dell 20 inch LCD monitor. I formerly used the Hitachis with AutoCAD in my work as a mechanical engineer; now I find that the LCD is more than adequate for the ordinary stuff, now that I have retired. I'll probably sell the 21 inch CRT Hitachis and get a second LCD for my wife.
THE REAL QUESTION IS 'DOES SIZE MATTER', AND IN THIS CASE I WOULD REPLY A DEFINITR "YES".
I HAVE A 19" CRT, FOR THE POLL INFORMATION
Not sure who makes the monitor.
Tried to find out from the device manager, but it stated under manufacturer "standard monitor types."
Mv 540 is cool. it displays good video quality, and i think it was the best in 200, on account of that i haven't seen a better one with such good graphics come out that are only just as good or a bit better than mine.
I have a 17ins.Hyundai Image quest QV798.Two years old now,but never had any trouble so far.Well chuffed with it.
I have a 15.4" widescreen TFT on my laptop, at 1280x800 resolution.
I would like to get a 23" Apple Cinema display, they look amazing.
Using the 32" for about 5 months... and loving it
hey im thinking about buying this but am not sure how the quality is since i never saw it in thr store? is it clear?
I put 17 inches, but I realize they are talking about monitors.
Woops. My bad.
Got this a few months ago to replace my old 15" CRT monitor. I love that I don't get relfections from windows and lights anymore, but I don't think the graphics are as good as a normal CRT TV screen. The advantages, like taking up less space even with bigger screen size, far outway the disadvantages though, and I wouldn't go back to the old ones for all the tea in China. ![]()
