Question

What should i upgrade?

Jun 25, 2018 11:33AM PDT

Hello, im looking into a upgrade in my pc, the current one is:
-Gpu: Gtx 970 (2 years old)
-Cpu: 4770S (4-5 years old) with Corsair h100i v2
And the rest if i change cpu will need to change(mobo, ram).
And HDD and the Psu are enough.
So I think that in reality i just wanna know if i should change cpu which is (I think) a bit old, but despite of it is old will it be worth ?

Why?

About the i5-2500 you could drive 3 GPUs (1080p). The 970 should be fine with 1080p play on most games.

I'd like to see 8 or 16GB RAM and SSD for the OS.

Sure you could change up the GPU from this to that but it's a lot of money for little gain.

As to the Speccy, mixed sticks could be why the RAM is not in dual channel. That's worth fixing.

The link: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/k5C7gbYRGzpS3Igb2F76Ofd
And I guess that u want those numbers and letters: k5C7gbYRGzpS3Igb2F76Ofd
The purpose of the upgrade is just for having something better, although it is not extremely neccesary if u would have the opportunity to upgrade something what would it be?

Ram

Look in your mobo manual for the proper 2 slots to enable dual channel.

It may not work well since you have a mishmash of ram sticks.

Grab a copy of memtest86 and put it on a usb stick.

Move the ram to the proper slots.

Power up and enter the bios and make sure it sees all 16GB of ram it may also show single or dual channel.

Set the boot order to the usb stick and boot it up.

Let the mem test run for a couple of hours.......no errors allowed.
