My preferred monitor would have HDMI and I'd use this cable.

There are hundreds of displays today. How about one from this top 10 at Amazon?

Hello all,
New to the form, so apologies if this question has been covered.
I am looking to buy an external monitor for my work laptop.
I routinely work from home and only have the laptop.
No docking station.
It's a Lenovo Thinkpad T440p (provided by work).
Input for a monitor is a VGA port.
Aside from the usual office software, the primary application will be Microstation (CAD).
From what I've read, I should be more concerned with resolution than speed???
I would appreciate any advice you all have.
Thanks
