What should I expect from the Galaxy S4?

Potentially switching from LG, which I have been loyal to for the past 8 years (specifically an LG Lucid), to a Samsung Galaxy S4 later this week. What should I expect? I'm nervous, since LG phones have proven to be bricks (dropped various times with no ill effects) and I hear horror stories about GS4s being dropped on feet and the screen shattering. Thanks in advance, sorry if this is stupid to most of you.

.....that you get a case for the phone (Otterbox or LIfe Proof for example). I have dropped my S4 while in the case and no problems. Don't forget that no case will prevent all possible damage, but it is a good prevention none the less.
