...when you hear about Pecans ?

Georgia, or Texas, or ????????

According to the US Department of Agriculture, there were 189 million
pounds of pecans produced in the 15 State "Pecan Belt" in 2006.

New Mexico produced 24% of that total, with 46 million pounds, worth
about $85 million (US), followed by Georgia with 40 million pounds and
Texas at 36 million pounds.

The major factor was "sunshine", and other weather conditions.

Guess the title "Chili Capitol" will need to be shared with Pecans. (And yes,
"chili" is spelled with an "i" in New Mexico. The State legislature determined
this several years ago.)

How else would you spell "chili"?

That's the usual spelling I've seen...for the peppers that is.

Chili peppers

Chilly cold

Chile country

Had a neighbor in Texas with a pecan tree.....

...... that kept us supplied.

But later when we bought pecans, they came from Georgia.
Now the 1# bags I buy at the supermarket are labeled, "Grown in California".

Go figure.

I do always associate pistachios with New Mexico.
