Looks like what happens on a non-Aero machine.

While I see all the images and you've explained Aero, etc.

I don't see what the issue is as I've seen taskbars do that. Windows 7 taskbar took me awhile to wrap my head around.

Let's try something else
Aug 27, 2011 8:13PM PDT

Your image of http://images.cjb.net/3d1af.jpg shows these "Pinned" icons appear after the machine has been in use. You mentioned that they appear when you have closed some apps.

But they don't appear when the system first loads.

I recognise Firefox there, but not the other two icons.

I Googled Windows 7 taskbar Pinned icons disappear and found various discussions about this, eg;
Windows 7 taskbar Pinned icons disappear

'Disappear' isn't exactly what you describe, but the cause may be the same, a corrupted icon cache. So try a couple of tests;

1] Resize the icons in the pinned area. Right click the Taskbar, select Properties, then remove the tick for "Use small icons". Reboot the computer and see if they display on bootup. If so, resize them back to small.

2] Remove the pinned icons. Reboot, then add them back in. Reboot to test.

This seems to be

a Chinese or Japanese version. At least that first animated Gif shows the Firefox icon expanding to show the browser name and non-english characters after the name.

Also, the font used to display the Mozilla Firefox name is non standard.

Personally I would go back to stock settings and try again.

The problem was solved!

hey buddy after other people help (in other forum), i know what is the crux of the problem.
some registry values has changed in Windows Registry, and that controls the length of a bar @:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowsMetrics

although i don't know which value is key but i try get the default values from a computer with clean win7 OS, then import to my computer.

you can see images of registry values before and now.

before (problem taskbar because some unless/mess registry values):
http://images.cjb.net/520a0.jpg

now (normal taskbar because default values):
http://images.cjb.net/5ac0c.jpg

now the problem is solved, thank you for taking the time to help me!

That's good work

and congratulations. Personally I would never have altered the registry, I am too much of a wimp, but you did well.

About those values. I suspect they are something to do with your XP theme, (i remember in XP you could 'drag' those dividers across).

That's why I suggested going back to stock with the default theme. But anyway, nice work.

Are you using some Theme or other that changes the look of Windows?

What can you tell us about this Windows installation?
