How is your whole system set up to do this? Do you have a firewall? Your PC, router and cable modem all need IP addresses. They are set statically or dynamically. Each device must be able to connect to the other but removing one in the middle (the router) might mean you have to reconfigure your PC or cable modem.
my connection has been slow, so i was going to check if it was my router. i bypassed the router and plugged into the desktop. when i do this, i get no connection whatsoever.
anyone have an idea?.....thanks
