What's up with Download Day???

by Pocketfox8 / June 16, 2008 10:01 PM PDT

Am I wrong or is today NOT June 17, 2008? Is today NOT Mozilla Firefox V.3.0 Download Day? Then why can I NOT download Firefox 3 from Mozilla's website today? There is NO link to it - there is NO Version 3 other than Beta. There IS a pledge page saying that Download day is June 17, 2008 and that they want to break a record. So tell me Mozilla - how are you going to break a record for downloads when it's already 8:00am EST and I can't even download your friggin program???

Wake up late

Ok - finally found it - not where you'd expect it to be (front and center) but on their damn blog - downloads don't start until 10:00am PACIFIC TIME. Seriously? Do you really want to set a world record here folks? Because if you do - you might want to get a JUMP on the day and let people in early timezones start downloading at the crack of dawn.

18:00 BST (13:00 EDST, 10:00 PDST)

If you pledge you will get an email when the download is available.

Part of the delay is getting all of the mirrors primed. e.g. Isohunt is contributing 150Mbps to the party.

downloads from the Moz servers will not count to the download record before the start of the period.

FYI the download is identical to FF3 RC3. The identification as RC3 will change (ummm, has changed) automatically to straight RC3 when the release is official.

It's "non-download" day for me
by Pocketfox8 / June 17, 2008 3:20 AM PDT

Can't even get onto mozilla's website - it just times out. Well, I guess I'll be downloading FF3 AFTER the record gets set.
As a side note - will the inability to download FF3 because the site is jammed up result in an unexpected world's record for most pissed off internet users in one day?

Wouldn't it be funny if they DDOS'ed theirselves?

I could see the headlines tomorrow. Mozilla sets a record of 0 Firefox 3 downloads because their servers were down all day because of a massive distributed denial of service attack of their own making.

It seems to be happening now as I can't reach spreadfirefox.com.

Network Timeout

The server at www.spreadfirefox.com is taking too long to respond.

I did downloaded it at around 3:00 pm eastern time and it was OK for me so I have Firefox 3 now.

Didnt I d/l Firefox 3 last week?

I swear I did. Was that just a beta or did I download it early? Seems fine to me.

That was probably FF3 RC3 and...

if so you should be up to date.

AFAIK it is identical to the release. Can't say positively as Check for Update is still failing in my tests (from RC3).

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
