I have no doubt that Mac OS X and Windows 7 both give you a first class computing experience but the average Windows PC will cost you about half as much or maybe less. Windows 7 works great on desktops, laptops and netbooks. My daughter uses a netbook at university and it only cost $250.00. Many of her friends have Macbooks costing $1,200 or more. I talked to some of her friends who told me they are proud to overpay for Apple products and would feel more pride if Apple would charge them more in the future. If Apple customers have that mentality I am glad I own some Apple stock.
Her netbook is over 3 years old and is still working and originally came with XP but I upgraded it to run Windows 7 and Office 2010. Netbooks perform better with Windows 7 and run much better than I have read on CNET forums. I have one too.
She did unfortunately buy an iPhone this yer and stuck me with the contract. Over 3 years, this iPhone is going to cost me over $3,000! or $1000 a year. The iPhone is the most expensive smartphone to get. To be honest, I think all smarthphones and their contacts are too expensive. I make a very good income and I love technology but these (smartphones) devices are too expensive for the average person. I don't understand how many younger people have them. Perhaps we are not teaching them to be good consumers which will not help them in their future personal finances.
