You're right about that. The battery life change is only for videos, for music it's the same. And the search feature is probably the biggest change. You can "type" in a search item (artist, song, album) by scrolling/selecting through the alphabet. And there is also the alphabet overlay as you scroll through your entire library. But if you update the software on the 5th gen, you get that ability (the overlay, not the other search option).
Since I'm not sure where you're buying from, you might want to note the change in packaging: 5th gen has the Red Hot Chili Pepper's Stadium Arcadium album cover on one of the box sides. For the 5.5 gen it's Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean. Just so that you know what you're getting.
My IPod broke recently so I'm in search of a new IPod.
Is there any big difference between the 5th Generation IPods and the 5.5 Generation IPods?
As far as I'm concerned, the 5.5th Generation IPod's battery life is longer and the screen is brighter than the 5th Generation IPods.
But besides that, there isn't much of a difference.
Is that correct and are there any more differences that I'm missing?
