Question

What's the deal with the "How to" forum . . .

Sep 13, 2011 7:50AM PDT

This message "Now add some detail so that smart CNET users (like you!) can answer. If
you're lucky, a CNET editor might choose your topic for a How To article
or video." appears in most posts. But if I try to only enter a subject and ever preview, it says message body is required.

Just wondering how that works.

Try it yourself

Go to http://howto.cnet.com/ and scroll down to the post submission box.

What is supposed to happen:

Type in a subject or topic, then Tab down to enter details in the main area. That message should then disappear.

But instead of tabbing down, hit Submit.

Or, if you do want to add details but are used to pressing Enter as in a Word Processor for a new line, then see what happens when you press Enter.

Don't worry I can delete all tests. I might report you as well, but that's a risk you will have to take! Happy

It needs to be fixed . . .
Sep 13, 2011 9:39AM PDT

I found it. Too many people don't read what's below it. Why not fix it so they have to put more detail? It is frustrating to us that try to help when the first thing we have to ask is for more information. That page is NOT idiot proof.

It's a known bug.

I didn't see any posts from you there. Shame, I'm into deleting!

I've been trying . . .

When I click the Submit button, the page hangs with the message (at the bottom) "Transferring data from dw.com.com . . .". And it just sits there.

Now, this page is just waiting on i.i.com.com
