What's the best printer???

Feb 9, 2006 10:04PM PST

If anyone can help me, I need to find the best printer for my needs. I work with magazine ad prrofs and photographs mostly, and need a high quality, good resolution, relaible, and preferable fast printer to handle a medium to large work load. I have only had HP inkjets, they have served their purpose, but I am finding them lacking more and more with my professional needs. Maybe I don't have the right HP? Or do I need to switch brands, or laser verses inkjet.

Any information would be helpful.

Thank you,
Erin

Once, you start to get into serious work, then get serious tools. Of course you pay alot more but then you expect more or demand a certain level. I suggest you look into Canon, Minolta, or Konica(sp) wrether they be ink or laser. You may find having a working "draft mode" and then a "finalize" printer would be best suited for your needs, even having two printers for such. Visit thier websites or talk to a salesperson an any local seller or request info via mail. In either case, dig and don't be afraid to ask hard questions but don't fall for the specs alone, maint. ease, duty cycles, consumeable costs, local support any extended warranty/service plan, and/or special s/w needs provided or not.

Some places to check

Since it sounds like you mainly do photo work, I would check into Cnet editors ratings and also user reviews. Stop over to Epinions also. I think you will find one of the mid range or higher Canon injets to your liking. Fast, highly rated and inexpensive ink. I would pick up one of the recent past models on Ebay as Canon has now gone to Epson's system of a chip in their cartridges so you have to buy their ink not 3rd party which is a lot cheaper.

I did get a Epson, with little comparision to Canon, which I should have. I am very pleased, except I have all this great HP Photo paper that is worthless with the Epson, and I can't seem to find a non-epson brand paper yet that will work but is a little more affordable. The quailty and speed are great though!!!!
