What's in Bangor, Maine

that planes with possible terrorists on them are being diverted there? Today there was a second one diverted just a few days after another one was...

Do we have some super facility there that I don't know about or is Bangor desperate for tourists?

Nothing of much consequence.

It is the first airport of any size on US land as European flights come over. I guess the airlines (and the passengers) have complained when flights were turned around and sent all the way back to their origins because of discovery of a name on "the list" after the plane had departed. So they now make the plane land in the US at the first opportunity, which coincidently is in the middle of nowhere. Thus, if the plane were carrying a bomb, it wouldn't disrupt a major city. Just my guess...

...other than a northern tier airbase that I think once housed B-52 bombers, but not sure if it's still active or mothballed. My wife's from Maine. When she gets home I'll ask her.

Thanks, my FIL had been stationed there, that's how he met my MIL, and why my wife is from Maine. I forgot to ask her before she'd gone to bed, so I just went in and woke her enough to ask, "Honey, what's in Bangor, Maine?"

She muttered a one word reply, "Nothing" and turned back over to sleep. LOL, I thought it was funny she chose the same thing to say about it I had earlier.
